The best things in life are actually really expensive. Success is just failure that hasn’t happened yet. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it. Eagles may soar, but weasels don’t get sucked into jet engines. Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe. I am free of all prejudice. I hate everyone equally. I do not want people to be very agreeable, as it saves me the trouble of liking them a great deal. Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes the reason is you’re stupid and make bad decisions. Everyone has a purpose in life. Perhaps yours is watching television. Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment. I’ve developed a new philosophy. I only dread one day at a time.

Scattered Terrain Sunday

I spent some this morning catching up on the prep for a few terrain elements:

First up are these pre-fab dwellings that I designed in Blender. The design is modular, so they can easily be re-arranged or new elements introduced.

One key point for me is that the interiors are fully playable as I want terrain that you can fight through and not just in or around, if that makes sense. Even the balconies will accommodate the 19mm washers I base my infantry on.

I have a variety of layouts and shapes planned to ensure my 15mm colonists have their structural needs covered. Stay tuned for larger dwellings, storefronts, etc.

Next up is a handful of scatter items, a couple of which I’ve draped miliput tarpaulins over for a little character. Some items will be kept loose, while others are mounted together on FOW-style bases to represent supply caches and the like.

You may have noticed a rather Battletech-ish looking item in the photo above. It was found on Thingiverse and will serve as a small cargo pod or personnel shuttle.

Unfortunately, the landing gear are a bit on the fragile side, so I may have to fabricate a base for it. I’m thinking it could sit on a terrain element depicting a blasted and burnt landing zone. Basing will limit its utility as a gaming piece, but the added realism may be a worthwhile trade (especially if it means the shuttle survives more than one game). We’ll see…

Last but not least (and… not terrain), I made some stowage for a few items from my PAU forces. Full credit for the idea of using the Copplestone Power Armour troops as 15mm mecha goes to Paul over at Mini Metal Mayhem.

That ammo box is upside down, isn’t it….
